“Lemonade with pistachio” has been registered as the official flavour of Alanya.
Lemonade with pistachio is a popular drink in the city of Alanya, enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Recently, the Alanya Municipality put in efforts to recognize this beloved flavour, and as a result, it was officially registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office on May 24th, 2023. The drink was granted protection under the Mahreç Sign on April 17th, 2024, thanks to Article 41 of the Industrial Property Law No. 6769. Whether you’re sipping on it during the hot summer months or cosying up with it during the winter, ‘Lemonade with Pistachio’ is a refreshing and unique treat.
“Special Flavors for Special Occasions.”
As you may know, “Lemonade with Pistachio” is a traditional beverage that is often served during circumcision, engagement, and promise ceremonies, as well as guest entertaining in Alanya. This unique drink recipe has been safeguarded by the Alanya Municipality to protect abstract cultural memory and culinary culture. If businesses would like to certify that they sell pistachio lemonade according to the registered recipe, they must apply to the Alanya Municipality for approval.

- 400 g lemon peel and juice (4 medium-sized lemons)
- 220 g orange (1 medium size)
- 145 g white granulated sugar (1 water glass)
- 2 litres of water
- 120 g roasted, peeled and unsalted peanuts.
