Sports tourism expanding in Alanya
The city municipality has been increasingly active in supporting sports tourism in Alanya for many decades. The current city management has expressed its plans to solidify Alanya’s place in sports tourism at the latest press conference. The mayor informed the public about his intensive negotiations with the World Volleyball Federation. As a result, Alanya will host a giant tournament known as the Champions League of Volleyball. The competition includes 18 organisations in 8 countries every year. Starting in 2025, Alanya will be a part of this tournament for 4 upcoming years. This year the Volleyball tournament in Alanya will take place on June 12 – 15.
A brand new beach sports complex in Alanya
The Alanya municipality is building a giant beach sports complex by international standards. The complex will be on the beach in front of the National Sovereignty Stadium in Alanya. It will include 5 fields and 6 training fields. This is within the standards set for the world championships. It will be an area where beach volleyball, beach football and beach handball can all be played. The project will leave no carbon footprint. All rooms will be caravans that can be easily removed and used in other locations. Alanya will also organize a beach handball tournament on July 3 – 13 with an expected participation of 2 thousand athletes.
Through supporting sports events, the new Alanya municipality aims to enhance tourism during the off-season and promote the destination to a wider audience. Beach sports are just one part of the wide selection of sports events you can attend in Alanya. The yearly Europe triathlon cup, traditional Gokbel oil wrestling tournament, mountain bike competition, paragliding festival and street basketball tournament are among the most known in the city.
